NM Araneus ??
I think I see shoulders there. NM Araneus from NMSU.edu are listed as: abigeatus, allani, apache, arizonensis, bicentenarius, cochise, detrimentosus, gemma, gemmoides, guerrerensis, illaudatus, mammatus, nordmanni, pegnia, santarita, thaddeus & trifolium.

It does not look like allani, arizonensis, detrimentosus, gemma, gemmoides, illaudatus, mammatus, pegnia, thaddeus & trifolium.

That's as far as I can get. The bold ones above seem the best options to me right now.

I'm afraid without more images we can't tell for sure if this is even Araneus or Neoscona. Do you have other angles? We might have to frass this one?

Just can't tell what we're looking at.
All the dark colors obscure the shape. Does it have the humped shoulders of Araneus? In which case we don't have a clue which one! If not it is likely Neoscona and we would guess crucifera.
