Not Crypto*pleurum
According to the generic key in _American Beetles_, the mesosternal tablet of Crypto*pleurum should be wider than long. I think this is a different genus! Compare with other ventral pics of Megasternini available. The mesosternum doesn't look quite right either.... Could this be an Ooster*num sp. instead?

good catch. I think you are certainly correct that it's not Crypto*pleurum. And Ooster*num intially looks correct. I'll try to confirm.
