Caulophilus spp. in South America?
Is there a Caulophilus species in South america? I found a specimen that looks like a Caulophilus spp. in Lollium perenne seeds from Uruguay and Argentina and it is hard to identify.

Thanks

there has to be many
O'Brien & Wibmer's checklist(1) that covers the New World north of South America lists over a dozen for Central America.
i suspect the S.Amer. Cossoninae fauna to be largely undescribed; it's a tough and poorly studied group.
i think the only way to get a reliable ID for your weevil is to send the specimen to an expert.
