Mosquito Larva

Mosquito Larva
Churchill, Northern, Manitoba, Canada
June 21, 2005
This is probably Frass but I found this photo of mosquito larva in a small pool of water (in an indent on a huge bolder) when we were up in Churchill several years ago.

Moved from ID Request.

Look more like fairy shrimp
than mosquitoes. In the guide here

Thanks

Wow!
I remember when we were up there in June and there were no mosquitoes out yet, then I came across this small pool about the size of a large watermelon carved out in this huge bolder the size of a football field.
My first thoughts were that these mosquito's larva would emerge in a few days and we would be in trouble. This area - called Cape Merry is right on the ocean and the tides would come up and over the rocks so the water possibly could have been salt water,
