wood cockroach? - Eurycotis floridana
Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida, USA
February 20, 2011
Size: about 3.5 cm
Found on a sidewalk outside bathroom in suburban development surrounded by swampy woods.

Moved
Yes, this is an adult of the Florida Woods Roach, a native species identified by those rudimentary wings (tegmina) capable of touching in the midline.

Moved from Cockroaches and Termites.

Moved for expert attention
Moved from ID Request.

Wingless adults
Since we were just talking about tegmina, this particular species has these in both the males and females. Similarly the new species introduced into California (Phyllodromica trivittata)
must either have only females, or males that are totally apterous.
