small carabid - Asaphidion curtum

small carabid - Asaphidion curtum
Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA
April 24, 2006
Size: 4.5mm
I found 2 more of these beetles, under a log on some leaves in the woods.

Carabidae: Trechinae: Bembidiini: Asaphidion curtum
Yves Bousquet (CNC, Agriculture Canada, Ottawa) was kind enough to provide the identification. An introduced European species only found in the Northeast, previously known as A. flavipes. Not common.

Thanks Don
for getting the info from Yves Bousquet, and Beatriz for creating the page for this introduced species.

Moved to guide
Created a new species page.

Not Elaphrus
If you found these under logs or leaf litter, than they are not Elaphrus, which are found mainly on mud flats. Neat shots!

something else
I'll move these to the Carabid page until I get the identification from the specimens I'm bringing to UNH.
