Spotted Fly - Sericomyia lata

Spotted Fly - Sericomyia lata
Kingston, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada
This fly is so immediately identifiable that I am suprised that I have not been able to find it.

Moved from Sericomyia.

Moved from Syrphid Flies.
Looks a lot like S. lata.

Spotted Fly
Looks like a species of Sericomyia (Syrphidae)

Moved from ID Request.

Murray, I could be wrong, but I suspect this is a syrphid. Why don't we see if Ron or one of the other Syrphidians can't place this guy a little better.

Spotted Fly
I mistook white markings for circles. Looked up some sylphids - Something like Scaeva pyrastri looks posssible. Awaiting knowledgable assessment. Murray
