I think you are correct, a youngster
Took me a while to make up my mind;
Acheta domesticus
looks very similar.

I probably should have mentioned this guy was in the woods, so a domestic would be somewhat out of place.

Not an ID, just an observation...
It looks a bit like the Japanese Burrowing Cricket (Velarifictorus micado):
