Explanation of Names
Generic epithet perhaps from Northern Sami Eana meaning "land, ground, or planet Earth." Sami is spoken in parts of Norway, Finland and Sweden, the latter from which Gustaf Billberg hails.
Identification
A diverse, mostly Palaearctic genus with several species in the Nearctic, some of which are cryptic species that may be undescribed.
