Nice haul of borid larvae - Boros unicolor Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA April 20, 2006 Size: 12 - 13 mm
I noticed one of my borid larvae had foreshortened, compressing the segments front-to-back, and crawled only feebly. At the same time, it had begun gyrating motions with its abdomen characteristic of the pupae of many beetle families. I assumed it was getting ready to pupate and placed it in a labled observation container with a moistened scrap of paper towel.
The family Boridae is represented on bugguide only by their flattened, olive green larvae. This individual might become the first adult for our site.
