Single dorsal *oblique* view is adequate for identification ...
when the carabid beetle has a characteristic dorsal color pattern. That is the case for many tiger beetles and Lebia. However, most non-patterened carabids require a dorsal *perpendicular* view to improve the chance of accurate species identification here at BugGuide.
