Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA

Size: ~3-4mm
This was inside a fibrous woody fungi growing on the bark of a large dead white pine.

Hi Tom! Since Vasili does most of the beetle work here, I´m a rare visitor in BG . . . but this is my turn:
Your larva belongs in Anobiidae: Dorcatominae. Habitat and size exclude all genera but Byrrhodes and Dorcatoma.

It matured
I had 2 adults come out of the fungi I brought inside. It looks like they're Byrrhodes sp., but is there any hope of getting them to species?
