spider - Callobius bennetti - male

spider - Callobius bennetti - Male
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
March 14, 2011
Size: 8.2mm
This spider was walking across the ice of a swamp.

Yes, male
I was about to write "must be immature, I see no epigynum" until I happened to notice the pedipalps. So much for careful observation.

Record # kmp-10052

I thought the season might be somewhat early; Leech (1972) writes that most males have been taken in May, but some as early as February, and mature females "at all seasons".
