oribatid mite? - Peloptulus

oribatid mite? - Peloptulus
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA
March 13, 2011
Size: <1mm, est ~.3mm
A strange creature found in a moss sample and imaged through the microscope... after looking through bug guide I think it might be an oribatid mite based on the large lateral projections (pteromorphs?). Is a more specific ID possible based on these bad images?

Thanks for all the help on this one =v=
Never thought it'd get to genus when I posted it. I will continue to shoot mites as I find em; I can't promise great pics, but I'll try my best.

you're so welcome
they are terrific, aren't they? i mean, both the oribatids and the people who study them...
by all means, keep them coming, Chris.

his comment: "maybe Eupelops or Peloptulus, can't tell"

[Chris, please keep taking and posting mite pix! every other image adds a family to the guide... thanks! =v=]
