tentative ID 2: T. porcatum ))
another locustnik, and seems to be a better match than nigrum... feel free to challenge the ID in courts, Ben...

Moved from Trichapion rostrum.

Thanks
Thank you for going above and beyond on this ID.

Identification
Is the host plant for T. rostrum strictly Baptisia? I do not know of any indigo on our property. Is there a specific character that separates this species from T. nigrum, as we do have black locust present on our hillside.

thanks, Ben -- a VERY good point
i'll look into the issue

Thanks Vassili
I was going to send you an e-mail last night, but it was pretty late and I didn't get anything terribly coherent finished. I suppose I can check for weevils on the locust flower buds once it leafs out. If I find another one, I will likely collect it.

Moved tentatively
Moved from ID Request.

Thanks
