Macaria sp? - Phigalia titea

Macaria sp? - Phigalia titea
New Paltz, Ulster County, New York, USA
March 18, 2011

Moved
Moved from Phigalia.

Phigalia titea - Hodges #6658
Phigalia titea - Half-Wing - Hodges #6658

The PM line of Phygalia denticulata is "toothed" as it approaches the costa and in this moth the PM line angles toward the base near the costa.

I agree with Chris
This looks like Phigalia titea to me. I just moved another of Kurt's moths that is clearly (to me at least) Phigalia denticulata. Both moths are flying in the NY area this time of year according to BG.

Kurt's Phigalia denticulata

toothed phygalia?
I'm thinking toothed Phygalia, Phygalia denticulata:

but I'm not an expert. (Just seeing them a lot right now in NJ)

Half agree
Phigalia yes, but I was thinking something more like Phigalia titea, the Half-wing. What do you think?

"only winter phigalia"
under this image:

Robert Lord Zimlich states it is the only winter phygalia. I'd assume March is still winter in NY.
(But your image looks closer to me)
