Calligrapha suturella Schaeffer
This is an excellent record, the first one of
Calligrapha suturella
Schaeffer from New Brunswick, indeed from all of the Maritime Provinces. If you examine the illustrations in Gómez-Zurita, Vogler, & Funk (2004), which revalidated this taxon, you'll see that the subsutural strip and arcuate band are confluent with the sutural stripe in
C. suturella
. Moreover, the key diagnostic feature is the pale pronotal band which is thin and narrow (indeed, sometimes reduced solely to pale apical front angles) in
C. suturella
as it is in this specimen. An excellent find!

Calligrapha suturella Schaeffer
Hi! Specimens like this, coming from NE North America can be found in many collections mingled with Calligrapha multipunctata, for they share the pale margins of pronotum and the lack of a diagnostic spot laterally on elytra. However, it is a different species: Calligrapha suturella Schaeffer, which we have postulated to be parthenogenetic. The most remarkable difference between both species (although not constant)is the fusion of sutural and subsutural longitudinal dark stripes on elytra (i.e., the stripes running along the junction of both elytra).
