Not a ceram*bycid! - Centronopus calcaratus

Not a ceram*bycid! - Centronopus calcaratus
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
April 26, 2006
Size: 22-25 mm approx.
Nine days later, the pupa had colored up, an indication that it was getting ready to eclose. Curiously, the forked tail hooks, which are readily apparent in this view, did not appear until the pupal stage. They are a common feature in the larvae of this family.
