This is from this past fall, sorry for the delay.

The mantis is by far the biggest I've ever seen. It was hanging out in some Symphyotrichum pilosum.

Looks like
Tenodera aridifolia sinensis (Chinese Mantid)

 
That was my first thought too.
Judging by that green stripe and how big it is.
