I found this cocoon in a torn up log a while ago. I finally photographed it today. There were two chrysalises inside.

. Thanks Charley. I agree. If I had to go with the odds, I'd guess Pyrrharctia isabella, since we seem to have an abundance of that species in this area.

Erebidae...
is the ID I'd give based on the outside (cocoon made of caterpillar hairs), and based on the caterpillar's shed skin inside, I think it's safe to say tiger moth (Arctiini).
