Synanthedon sapygaeformis? - Synanthedon sapygaeformis

Synanthedon sapygaeformis? - Synanthedon sapygaeformis
Lake Placid, Highlands County, Florida, USA
September 25, 2010
I don't know about anyone else, but I think Synanthedon sapygaeformis is one heck of a scientific name. I would try to work it into my next water cooler conversation but I have no idea how to pronounce it! In any case, this moth was located on a Brazilian Pepper tree and it looks much like a previous specimen ID'd as Synanthedon sapygaeformis.

Moth ID
You are correct. I just had friends collect several dozen outside Sarasota.
I would pronounce it - Sa pidge i formis.

I suspect you're right... but let's see if the experts agree. :)
