Gary Oak Gall - Cynips mirabilis

Gary Oak Gall - Cynips mirabilis
Naches Trail Preserve, Pierce County, Washington, USA
March 8, 2011
Here is a gall I collected on March 5th. I broke it open on March 8th. Inside I found a tiny pupa. I photographed it March 8th, 9th, 19th, 25th and it emerged from my container as an adult on the 31st. I hope this is the real speckled gall wasp this time and not another imposter. Here is what I ended up with last year:

Moved
Moved from Eupelmidae.
I think gall images should go in the gall section unless they show some sign of the parasitoid (e.g., its exit hole)--and in that case, it would be good to include a thumbnail link on the guide page for the gall wasp.

Thanks
Sounds good to me.
