Unknown moth - Pyrausta zonalis

Unknown moth - Pyrausta zonalis
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
April 5, 2011
Size: 15mm wingspan spread.
Came to black light trap. (live oak/chaparral habitat). Perhaps the same as ?

Moved to Pyrausta zonalis
Moved from Pyrausta.

Tentative ID. See comments below. This one may be too small for napthealis and there may not be enough white in the terminal area, so along with his having zonalis in his area, that species seems most likely.

Not sure now
The jagged am. line would make this napthealis according to Munroe but I suspect that the two may be one species or a poorly defined complex. See more of my comments on your photo #1648575.

.
Thanks Steve for getting all this corrected.

.
Gary, would you now be sure enough to move this to species since you have had one ID'd by BOLD? They look very similar to me and darker than your napthealis.

P. zonalis
It looks like he only has one under napthealis but BOLD seem to have it as zonalis. Anyway, I agree this should be moved to zonalis based on description.

Edit - Barnes & McDunnough separate the two by size, maculation and amount of white in terminal area. Gary's images seem to demonstrate that there is overlap so it is possible we can't know if all his images are zonalis without dissection/DNA.

Moved
Moved from Pyraloidea.

BOLD match
100% match at BOLD to Pyrausta nr. napaealis.

Moved
Moved from Moths.

Looks like
an Evergestis, but not sure which. There are several species which look similar. These 2 photos might even be of 2 different species.
