Tiny spider - Scotinella fratrella - Male
Purdue Wildlife Area, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, USA
October 2, 2007
Size: 1.6 mm
Tiny spider; Berlese ex material under log.

Maybe a small Gnaphosidae?

Feel free to frass, posting in case it's of interest. Too small for me to attempt to photograph palps, but I still have the specimen.

Scotinella fratrella
Moved from Spiders.

The species has been recorded already in Illinois, but as of 2005 it wasn't listed for Indiana in The spider species of the Great Lakes States.

Will post more images tomorrow.

This is a Scotinella species in the Corrinidae -- most interesting, will let you know when I have more information about species possibilities.

Hi Brad, Certainly of inte
Hi Brad,

Certainly of interest, one of the many small linyphiids, I think, but we need to see it under a microscope. You're welcome to send it to me (I'll be in the States in June). Drop me a note at BG -at- tiros.net and we can make arrangements.

BTW, "gnaphosid" -- Gnaphosidae is the name of the family.

will do
