Brachysomida bivittata (Say)
I knew this was not Acmaeops p. proteus (Kirby) but I couldn't puzzle it out. Serge Laplante has identified it as the dark form of Brachysomida bivittata (Say). This is a highly variable species with almost any possible colour combination of the elytra, pronotum and legs. Nevertheless, the shape of both head and pronotum are distinctive.
