furry galls on oak - Aceria triplacis

furry galls on oak - Aceria triplacis
Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
April 12, 2011
Saw these galls on an oak leaf. The following photo is the underside.Third photo is two other galls on the same leaf . The galls appear to be filled with fuzz- I opened one up and the bulge was filled with the fuzz, but I couldn't find any creature inside.

These are apparently specific to white oak. Another new species for the guide, Molly--keep up the good work!

White oak
Leaf (based on overall shape on 4th photo) is White Oak (Quercus alba).

These seem to be mite galls
I can't remember offhand if I've figured out what species is responsible.
