Myrmica sp. - worker
Very nice shots, I should say as usual. I've read Mr Chandler's comment about your last Myrmica post, and I understand his scepticism.
But all four decisive criteria we use at the European level do match with M. rubra. Therefore, this one species is at least a VERY close relative of the introduced species, not a mere congener.
Until a thorough identification at the species level done, the possibility of a (quicker than expected) extension to Vermont cannot be excluded.

M. rubra?
I found these under a half dozen or so rocks along a river bank. I'll see if I can get some specimens to be identified, the next time I'm in Vermont in 2 weeks.
