Snout Beetle? - Glyptoscelis pubescens

Snout Beetle? - Glyptoscelis pubescens
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
April 14, 2011
Size: unable to record
Found on unknown bush in wooded area. Like all beetles, this one just dropped off into the leaf litter upon being approached too closely, spoiling a chance at side shot. I couldn't find anything visually like it, especially around the mouth area, but I do suspect it is a snout beetle of some kind. It looks too much like an over-sized weevil to not be one.

Wallll, blow me down.....
This didn't look anything like the one I submitted last year, which I also thought was a snout. Ooh well, live and learn......

Leaf beetle?
Something closer to Xanthonia I believe...
