Ant on Pea Flower - Formica integra

Ant on Pea Flower - Formica integra
Moccasin Lake, Winston, Douglas County, Georgia, USA
April 18, 2011
These ants are found on this particular wild flower (Pea family). Any help towards ID would be much appreciated. The ants seem to congregate near the base of the flower, but not the base of the plant itself, nearby plants (clover, False Strawberry, various grasses) are not infested.

Moved
The ants are visiting extrafloral nectaries on the calyx of the sweetpea flowers, more protecting than infesting. This is the only common Formica with this color pattern in your area.
