Moved from Small Yellow Texas Cockroach.

This is a female Latiblattella rehni. Triangular subgenital plate is one of the characters mentioned in the description for this species.

It is actually the lack of dorsal coloration/pattern that identifies this species. There are other genera that have rims of translucency (e.g. many Parcoblatta) but this cockroach has a translucent covering that is really remarkable. There is apparently another species within this genus that has become established in Florida, and when I get a chance I will verify that this is the more familiar species. The lighting that you have brings out a lot of the features in the cockroach that I haven’t really examined before in this species. If I’m wrong on the species, it should be easy to figure that out with these images once I figure out where I have the paper that describes the differences.
