The scrub oak trees here are short enough for you to find the cicadas by just following thier song.

Diceroprocta vitripennis
The genus Diceroprocta has a bright yellow "collar" across the back between the wing bases. The silvery underside suggests that it is the common eastern species.

This species has also been called "viridifasciata", but the original description of that insect is quite different from any known Diceroprocta (e.g., it has 3 spines on the front leg, like Cicadetta).

Silver Bellied Cicada
Dr Hamilton also notes that Pruinose or Silver Bellied is a better English name for this species, Green Cicada better reserved for T. superbus

At Words by William Whitaker, "pruinosa" translates to "frosty".

Actually T. pruinosa was named...
This cicada was named because of the heavy waxy buildup (pruinosity) that develops ventrally over time. Hence Tibicen pruinosa.
