Phoretic mite on scarab beetle magnified 50X

Phoretic mite on scarab beetle magnified 50X
Quitman, MS, Clarke County, Mississippi, USA
April 19, 2011
Size: Approximately 1 mm
This is a phoretic mite, probably of the Family Macrochelidae, found upon scarab beetle magnified 50X for anyone who would might want to confirm this ID. The mites have very long legs and are able to walk rapidly about when removed from the scarab beetle. Also does anyone know what these mites might eat, how to rear them, or if they may be a vector for any diseases harmful to man or animals? If so, what precautions should be taken when handling them?
