Tipula sp? - Cranefly - Tipula

Tipula sp? - Cranefly - Tipula
Oak Ridge, Guilford County, North Carolina, USA
April 22, 2011
Size: about 2 cm
This insect came to my porchlight and stayed a couple of days, then died.
I assume it had finished mating.
It was hard to photograph because it died in a grotesque position, hard to pose without damage.
Male?
