Florida blue centipede - Hemiscolopendra marginata (?) - Hemiscolopendra marginata

Florida blue centipede - Hemiscolopendra marginata (?) - Hemiscolopendra marginata
Trail by reservoir, Guilford County, North Carolina, USA
April 24, 2011
Size: about 2 in.
Found under bark of a dead pine tree.
I got a lucky shot as it scurried away.
There seems to be a lot of variability in color among the specimens of
this type on BG. This one has a very red head.

Moved from ID Request.

Looks like it to me
21 legs is definitively a tropical centipede.

This one has the blue coloration extending down the sides, and the blue marks near the tips of the legs, both of which indicate H. marginata rather than Scolopendra viridis, and the fact that you found it in NC would indicate the more northern H. marginata as well.

Thank you, Sara.
I'm gonna move it.
