The Conopid Flies of California
By Sidney Camras and Paul D. Hurd, Jr.
University of California Press, 1957

Full Text

Published over 50 years ago...but I believe this is still a very useful reference for trying to identify conopid flies in California. A key to genera appears on pg 21, and for each genus there are keys to species (those known and recognized in 1957, of course). Brief comments and range maps are given for each species.
