Another little guy - Proteoteras crescentana

Another little guy - Proteoteras crescentana
near Dover Plains, Dutchess County, New York, USA
June 10, 2005
Size: 16mm wingspan
With my new Canon Digital Rebel XT and macro lens, I can finally start to get shots of these guys!

Proteoteras crescentana
Heavy black crescent on right wing continues to apex, and would do the same on left wing if there wasn't a patch of scales missing near the tip; also has gray shading in basal area, and yellowish wash along inner margin, as shown in Jim Vargo's specimen at MPG.

I've made a Guide page here with info on similar species.

Unfortunately, Bob Patterson
says probably unidentifiable. Moving to Frass

Possibly 3235 - Gray-flanked Proteoteras Moth - P. mofattiana
....but can't rule out the possibility of it being some other species
