Any idea what is on the bottom of this wolf spider?

Any idea what is on the bottom of this wolf spider?
Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA
April 25, 2011
Size: .5 in
I found this wolf in the kitchen. It was walking very slowly and with much difficulty. There was a lot of thin fibrous material and some kind of insect carcass stuck to the ventral side of the spider. It appears that one of the pedipalps was torn off too.
