Moved
Moved from Cedar Tree Borer.

will keep the pix for the time being
strangely, we have very few thus far

Moved from ID Request.

Location
It flew in from the trees around my deck and landed on my keyboard. Larger than one key length so definitely 1/2 inch at least (body only). I'm surrounded by cedar, Douglas fir and maple so assumed it a borer of some type.

Semanotus litigiosus...
Female of Semanotus litigiosus I would guess.

Too well marked
for S. litigiosus. With the size cleared up, I stand with S. ligneus, the cedar tree borer.

unsure
initially I thought something like Semanotus ligneus but the size stated is too big... What were you including in your size estimate?

Size
I listed total length including antennae. Body from abdomen to head was approximately 3/4 of an inch. Sorry...new here.

No problem!
Usually sizes are standardized from head to rear end, I kinda had a feeling you had included the antennae, but all is well..
