Size: ~1/4 inch
To confirm that I did not have an aberrant hopper, and to possibly facilitate in the expert ID of this species, I found 3 more today on a dune, with emergent lupine, white pine, and pitch pine, with other dry adapted plants. All found on ground. I also took a specimen for preservation.

I'm looking forward to finding out what Dr. Hamilton has to say about these (and the first one you submitted).

Did some
digging in the meanwhile. Seems near Cuerna fenestella Hamilton 1970 or Cuerna sayi Nielson 1965. C. sayi is shown with the white wing (Brochosome) patches at http://ctap.inhs.uiuc.edu/takiya/index.asp

Animal I photographed yesterday has such spots so would be female?

I can not see (other then very minor diff. in genetalia) how the two above differ but KEN, really CAN'T wait to hear from Dr. Hamilton either.

Data on these species fit with the Prarie ecosystem type of the Inland Barren's where this was found.

Regards,
Kenny
