Size: Maybe around 9 mm?
Might this be a Camponotus subbarbatus queen?
Not sure if they were together

3 new images. I had it in the bottom of a condiment cup (think fast-food ketchup) when I shot it sitting on a ruler. That should have made the ant slightly closer to the camera than the ruler; which should have actually made the ant appear slightly larger (the "I am crushing your head" effect).

Don't count the wings - just the body length, right?
