Should be P. purpuratus
A member of the texanus clade based on patterning - ardens at lower elevation, texanus out of range. Should be P. purpuratus.

P. purpuratus - texanus
Yes Caleb. This is an immature prairie purpuratus. GB is also of the opinion that this northern prairie population of purpuratus should be P. texanus, but it may be best to place them as purpuratus until a final decision is made on the status of the three species (purpuratus, texanus, & ardens).
