Dragonfly Larva

Dragonfly Larva
Lake James, North Carolina, USA

Moved
Moved from Anax.

I agree that it doesn't closely resemble other Anax naiads in the Guide--and it does resemble at least some of the clubtail naiads. Leaving it here for the Odonata experts to have another look and the final say regarding placement.

This is a Clubtail larvae in the family Gomphidae.

This is one of the first results on a google search for Anax, so it would be great to get it fixed.

Dragonfly nymph
Looks like Anax in the family Aeshnidae. Hard to tell whether it's the common green darner (A. junius) or the comet darner (A. longipes) without a close look at the mouthparts though.
