Not the best picture... found this flying about by my house... habitat is high desert - pine-oak woodland with understory shrubs, ~5,600 ft.

At this point I am lumping all the southern populations with subsquamiform/plumose setae with the nominant subspecies.

Thanks, but this beetle was found and photographed last month - I let it go, and I only have these poorly-lit photos. I've added a ventral view, but the lighting is still poor. I'm getting better at composing photos... anyways... thanks for the ID help!
