A wee hydrophilid, maybe? - Anacaena limbata

A wee hydrophilid, maybe? - Anacaena limbata
Pelham, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
May 3, 2011
Size: 2.4 mm
This seems similar to some Hydrophilinae. I found it nestled in some algae that had grown on the submerged end of a currant cutting I'm trying to root-sprout in a big puddle. When I put the beetle on a rock to take photos, it appeared to start grazing on moss/lichen after a little while.
