Spider with 5 eyes? - Coras

Spider with 5 eyes? - Coras
Fairfield, Somerset County, Maine, USA
May 2, 2011
Size: 2 inches
I was moving a wood stack and there this big (black looking) spider was sitting.
I feel like I have seen similar ones, but much smaller. this was about 2 inches diameter including the legs, while in resting position (as pictured.)
It sat very still as I photographed it with the lens almost touching it. It was sort of hard to get because I was precariously crouching on a pile of logs.
It seems to have 5 eyes; is that normal or am I fooled by the pictures?
After a bunch of pictures it rapidly ran out of sight.
Please identify, thanks in advance!

Coras species
I'm pretty sure it's a Hacklemesh Weaver in the genus Coras. Compare with

It is harmess. It does have eight eyes. It's just that the two on the outside are so close together they look like one... and the other two on the other side are hidden behind the leg.

I frassed your other two images that won't be needed for the guide. We'll leave this on the spider page for a few days to see if anyone else has more info to add.

Funny
I was just browsing the hacklemesh section!
Thanks a lot for the i.d.!
