Moved from Spiders. It could also be cornutus, but patagiatus is supposed to have a lighter carapace, more orange - yellow, while cornutus has a more orange red carapace. A ventral view can help with these.

Moved from ID Request. I'd like to look at this one a little more closely, though I think the Balabans' guess is likely correct.

We would suggest a male orb weaver
likely in the genus Larinioides

That looks right and browsing the pictures I recognize others I've seen in the same area with slightly different form, so perhaps those are females.
