Phil beat me to posting the link to the SBMNH site. That looks like a good match.

Do Anthicids have notched eyes? It seems the eyes on this one are somewhat notched.

I didn't have a measuring device with me -- need to put one in my camera bag! -- so I could be a little off on the size. It still was a fairly large beetle (compared to many of the others I've been seeing lately). I don't think it was less than 12mm.

Also, I forgot to mention that I found it on the leaf on which it was photographed.

Notched eyes and size

This is about as big as anthicids get - Pergetus campanulatus is probably the largest at 16 or so mm (from the Pacific Northwest and maybe getting as far south as the Bay Area) - members of the Eurygeniinae are big enough to be pinned rather than pointed! Retocomus is one of the few anthicids with noticeably notched eyes, and one of your lateral shots was most helpful in this regard.

I have curated

all the subfamilies except the Eurygeniines at UCB/CISC - you may find them in pretty much of a mess.
