Antistrophus silphii gall - Antistrophus silphii

Antistrophus silphii gall - Antistrophus silphii
Cedar Rapids/Linn, Linn County, Iowa, USA
January 5, 2011
This terminal gall was removed from a cupplant stem. It had been torn open, whether by a bird or rodent I don't know. This inside view shows what appear to be individual chambers of what I assume are A. silphii, with the openings 2 mm or so (that's my ten year old son's fingernail).
