Golden Buprestid (Cypriacis aurulenta, Buprestidae) - Buprestis aurulenta

Golden Buprestid (Cypriacis aurulenta, Buprestidae) - Buprestis aurulenta
Clayton, Contra Costa County, California, USA
May 8, 2011
Size: About one inch.
Feeding on Poison Oak along Mitchell Canyon Fire Road in Mount Diablo State Park

ID and feeding habit
I moved these from "Frass" unwittingly, and now cannot get just the second one back there. I wanted to call attention to confirm that this is in the genus Buprestis, not Cypriacis (which is a subgenus) and that it is not feeding on the poison oak, just basking there!

Moved
Moved from Frass.

yes, Buprestis (Cypriacis) aurulenta
Moved from ID Request.

Buprestid
Probably Golden Buprestid, Buprestis aurulenta.

Buprestis
Thank you very much. That sure looks like it. My book (Field Guide to Beetles of California, by Evans and Hogue) says they are now in the genus Cypriacis. Is that correct?

up for taxonomic debate...
Bugguide treats Cypriacis as a subgenus of Buprestis, others consider it a separate genus. For now, either name is acceptable.
