Longlegged Fly? - Ocyptamus fuscipennis

Longlegged Fly? - Ocyptamus fuscipennis
Northern, Virginia, USA
July 18, 2004
Long cylindrical abdomen with three blue bands, enlarged tip like a Clubtail Dragonfly, with a blue mark on it (from a blurry top view). Small, ~1cm as I recall. I thought I saw something similar on the bugguide site but I sure can't find it.

Moved from Ocyptamus.

Syrphid fly
This is a flower fly, family Syrphidae. I want to put it in the genus Bacca, but I don't think that is a valid genus any longer. Need to catch up on my syrphid nomenclature:-)

Baccha
Hoi Eric,
Baccha (not Bacca!) is still a valid genus, but it is now restricted to just one species in the USA, and that is B. elongata, which also occurs in Europe. Others have been placed in the genera Ocyptamus and Pseudodoros. The specimen on this picture seems to be a species of Ocyptamus.
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards
